What is Botox?

Botox is Allergan's brand name for botulinum toxin (onabotulinumtoxinA). When injected, it reduces activity in muscles, thus reducing dynamic wrinkles.

What areas are Botox usually good for?

Botox is usually used on the upper face, where facial expressions such as squinting and frowning cause wrinkles such as crows feet, "11" between the brows, and horizontal lines on the forehead.

What areas are not helped by Botox?

Botox is not useful for static wrinkles caused by sagging and loss of plumpness, such as cheeks, neck, and jowls. These areas are heled by fillers.

How much Botox do I need?

What are some of the side effects of Botox?

About one percent of people receiving Botox treatments may have side effects, primarily from spread of the chemical beyond the intended site. What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is Allergan's brand name for an hyaluronic acid (a clear jelly that naturally exists under our skin to keep it moist and plump) based gel. It is used as a dermal filler to correct and smooth static facial wrinkles and lines.

What areas are Juvederm usually good for?

Juvederm is usually used on the lower face, where sagging and loss of plumpness cause wrinkles such as the lines from the nose to the lip corners (nasolabial folds, a.k.a. “parentheses lines”) or lines from lips to jaw (marianette lines). It is also used to replace and elevate the cheek "apple's" or to enlarge the lips.

What are some of the side effects of Juvederm?

Local side effects are common, such as bleeding, bruising, and swelling. Allergic side effects are more rare, and incluse rashes, hives, and itching. Cosmetic side effects are possible and depend on local conditions, and can result in asymmetry, lumps, and overcorrection. What therapeutic areas are Botox usually good for?

Botox has nine therapeutic indications. We at Home Towne Beauty mostly use Botox for migraine headaches and excessive sweating.

Chronic Migraine: prophylaxis of headaches in adult patients with chronic migraine (≥ 15 days per month with headache lasting 4 hours a day or longer). Here is a patient resource for this treatment.

Primary Axillary Hyperhidrosis: severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis that is inadequately managed with topical agents.
